This key position sits within West Yorkshire Police’s Estates and Business Services Directorate, providing expert M&E support across a diverse estate of around 100 operational and specialist buildings. We’re looking for someone who can work confidently both independently and as part of a busy team, managing a varied workload with ease.
As a key member of our technical team, you’ll deliver in‑house assurance, on‑site inspections, contractor oversight and compliance monitoring across projects, reactive and planned maintenance, and major installations. Role and Responsibilities

Key duties include:

Supporting the delivery of M&E engineering projects, including planned and reactive maintenance and minor works
Liaising with contractors, consultants and internal teams to resolve technical issues and maintain consistent standards
Monitoring performance of mechanical and electrical systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS), to ensure safety, reliability and effectiveness
Working to tender specifications, contract documentation and technical drawings
Identifying risks, escalating issues and ensuring corrective action is taken where required
Undertaking building condition and dilapidation surveys to support asset management and project planning

The Role Key responsibilities will include: Leading procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages Managing budgets, cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow Overseeing valuations, variations and change control Managing subcontractor accounts and negotiating final accounts Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout delivery Working closely with the client, project team and senior leadership What They Are Looking For A Senior QS with experience taking the commercial lead on substantial projects A strong main contractor background in refurbishment, fit-out or complex building works Confidence managing procurement, reporting, change and final accounts The judgement to lead independently while working closely with a senior commercial director Salary & Package £80,000-£95,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus package.
