An opportunity has arisen at Gower College Swansea for a Learning Area Manager in Engineering . A diverse Learning Area, the curriculum includes programmes across levels 1-5, with a full degree programme (level 6). A strong Work based Learning provision forms part of the delivery activities. Staff are passionate and committed in ensuring the many learners in this area achieve their full potential, through innovative teaching styles and excellent outcomes.
The programmes are currently delivered at two campuses, Tycoch and Gorseinon, with circa 75% of the provision being delivered at the Tycoch campus.

The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the project is progressing as planned, is completed on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards; and that sub-contractors are performing, best practice is being followed, and there is good information flow. The successful candidate will have experience managing large scale construction projects, particularly in the energy, hydro or water sectors, and a good understanding of excavations, working on sloped sites and the pumped hydro energy storage technology.

Skills Strong background in fire safety with the ability to not only appraise a scheme to satisfy the requirements of ADB and/or BS 9991 / BS 9999 but also to provide a Fire Engineered alternative solution following the framework of BS 7974, including full justification, and supporting calculations. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders. They have a number of regular 'contract' outworkers so usually deal with overspill using these trusted contacts, however, due to a former director retiring at the end of May they are very much in need of a permanently employed Mechanical Design Engineer to supplement their team as they look to grow the business following the internal management buyout completed mid 2016.
Following this MBO, the company has ventured into provided MEP design services into the commercial, leisure and residential sectors. The successful candidate will need to be capable of performing a client facing role and managing a small multi-disciplinary team.
This will include :
Monitoring project costs
Maintaining project deliverables
Coordination with external (architectural, structural, PQS, CDM, etc.) and internal (CAD, Revit, electrical, public health) disciplines.
They provide design consultancy from concept through to detailed design and construction phase. You must be able to work in the UK without restriction.
