My client is a leading multi-disciplinary construction and property consultancy. They provide a range of consultancy services that include building & quantity surveying, project management, architecture & master planning, civil & structural engineering, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability, and health & safety.
As Senior Building Surveyor, you will either be working on a large social housing framework contract managing refurbishment and maintenance projects across SE postcodes, alternatively you will be working on education projects taking over from a Senior Manager looking to move away from the sector. You will be managing costs for responsive repairs, cyclical decorations and lifecycle repairs contracts servicing more than 9,000 social housing units.
This is fast paced and challenging role; you will be balancing the requirements of residents, the Client and your new company to ensure the best outcome for all parties.
You will be responsible for making sure all billing is in line with requirements, working with key subcontract partners, ensuring that works undertaken are accurately quoted, processed and paid in line with supplier agreements. Repairs span the full spectrum of trades and include electrical repairs, carpentry, plumbing, iron mongery and much more. Maximising the value to the Client and your new company, ensuring the smooth running and ongoing cost effectiveness of contracts.
You will be friendly, motivated, reliable and a hardworking individual, with a proven track record of working on similar projects within a similar industry sector. You will have extensive knowledge, experience and/or qualifications in building maintenance this includes reactive/responsive repairs, cyclical decorations and/or lifecycle repairs. You must also have a full UK driving licence as there will be some travel involved .
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Good technical understanding of construction and the surveying process backed by a recognised technical qualification
Good knowledge of Construction contracts including JCT, NEC and PFI Contracts
Demonstrable knowledge of Schedules of Rates
Aware of current commercial and technical legislation
Good numerical, negotiation and influencing skills
Use of Microsoft Excel and other financial packages
Good organiser who operates within strict deadlines
Able to communicate with all internal and external members of the Project Team
Maintain relationships with internal and external contacts
Able to act on own initiative
Support, mentor and guide subordinates
