Managing Quantity Surveyor - Glasgow
£85,000 - £100,000 + Car/Car Allowance

An established civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Glasgow.
The business delivers complex infrastructure projects across Scotland and has a strong pipeline of work across heavy civil engineering, utilities and energy infrastructure.
This is a senior commercial position offering responsibility for the delivery of major projects from contract award through to final account, while also supporting the wider commercial team.
The role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial performance of a portfolio of infrastructure projects, working closely with project, operational and senior management teams.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the commercial management of major civil engineering projects
- Managing projects throughout the full commercial life cycle
- Contract administration across a range of standard forms of contract
- Managing applications, valuations, variations and change
- Cost reporting, forecasting and commercial performance management
- Subcontract procurement and management
- Managing commercial risk and identifying opportunities
- Supporting contractual correspondence and project governanc
- Managing final accounts
- Supporting and mentoring members of the commercial team
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders
What we are looking for
You will ideally have:
- Significant Quantity Surveying experience within heavy civils or major infrastructure
- Previous experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or equivalent level
- Strong knowledge of major construction contracts, particularly NEC
- FIDIC experience
- Experience managing projects through the full commercial lifecycle
- Strong subcontract management, cost control and forecasting experience
- Experience managing commercial risk and contractual change
- The ability to work effectively alongside operational and senior management teams
- Experience of other international or major infrastructure contract forms would be advantageous.
Package
The position offers a salary of £85,000 - £100,000 depending on experience, alongside a competitive vehicle package and wider benefits.
The role is predominantly Glasgow based and would suit someone looking to take a senior commercial position within an established contractor delivering a long-term pipeline of major infrastructure work.
