A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Mechanical Estimator to join a well-established and growing building services contractor. Working closely with an experienced estimating team, you'll receive hands-on training and mentorship, giving you the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and build a long-term career within the business.

This role would suit someone with 1-2 years' experience in mechanical estimating who is looking to take the next step and join a company that genuinely invests in its people. With a strong project pipeline, excellent staff retention and clear progression opportunities, this is an ideal environment to continue your professional development.
Following a successful probation period, hybrid working is available with one day per week working from home.

The Role

• Assisting with the preparation of mechanical estimates and tender submissions
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Supporting senior estimators with cost planning and bid preparation
• Attending internal tender review meetings
• Assisting with value engineering and cost-saving exercises
• Maintaining accurate estimating records and databases
• Liaising with project, commercial and pre-construction teams throughout the tender process

You'll Also Have

• 1-2 years' experience within a Mechanical Estimating role
• Experience working on mechanical building services or construction projects
• A basic understanding of HVAC, pipework, public health and mechanical installations
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
• The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
