Yard Labourer
Full-Time, Permanent, West Lancashire area
£33,150 per annum
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Labourer to join a busy supplier of landscaping and building materials. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and has a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
The successful candidate will play an important part in the day-to-day operation of the yard, helping to maintain stock, load and unload vehicles, assist customers, and ensure the site remains clean, organised, and safe.
This position is predominantly based outdoors, requiring work in all weather conditions throughout the year. As a seasonal business, workloads vary, with the busiest period occurring during the autumn and winter months. During these peak periods, the role can involve increased physical activity, including loading, unloading, and supporting customers with collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate within the production area, including bagging materials.
- Load and unload customer and supplier vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Assist customers with the collection of products and provide excellent service.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard environment.
- Carry out stock handling and general yard duties.
- Clean and maintain forklifts and other equipment as required.
- Develop product knowledge to support customers and colleagues.
- Undertake additional labouring duties as needed.
Requirements
Essential
- Valid Counterbalance Lift Truck Licence.
- Good level of physical fitness and ability to undertake manual handling tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious approach to work.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors year-round.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Previous experience within a yard, builders' merchant, warehouse, production, or general labouring environment.
- Telescopic Handler Licence.
- Experience working with landscaping, timber, aggregates, or building materials.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 7:30am to 5:00pm
- Overtime available during busy periods
