Are you an experienced Estates, Facilities or Site Manager looking for an opportunity to lead the operational management of a prestigious school environment?

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Estates Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of the school's estate, ensuring facilities are safe, compliant, well-maintained and provide an outstanding environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

The Role

Reporting to the Bursar, you will have overall responsibility for facilities management, maintenance, health & safety compliance, site security, contractor management and estate improvement projects across the school.

This is a varied leadership role requiring strong organisational skills, technical knowledge and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a busy educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the caretaking, grounds and transport teams
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across the school estate
  • Act as the school's Fire Safety Officer
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety and statutory regulations
  • Manage contractors, service providers and facilities budgets
  • Oversee site security and act as a key holder
  • Coordinate estate improvement, refurbishment and maintenance projects
  • Manage school fleet operations, including minibuses and drivers
  • Coordinate external lettings and out-of-hours site usage
  • Monitor utilities consumption and identify opportunities for efficiency and sustainability improvements

About You

We're looking for a candidate who brings strong facilities or estates management experience together with excellent people leadership skills.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Estates, Facilities or Property Management role
  • Proven people management experience
  • NEBOSH or equivalent Level 3 Health & Safety qualification
  • Building, engineering or trade-related qualification
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety and facilities compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience working within an education environment
  • D1 driving licence or willingness to undertake training
  • Experience managing maintenance projects and contractor relationships
  • Knowledge of fire safety management and compliance
