Technical Designer & Estimator

Location: Hook, Hampshire
Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 (potential flexibility for the right person)

The Opportunity

An established specialist construction products manufacturer is looking to hire a Technical Designer & Estimator to join its growing technical team.

This role offers a blend of technical design, estimating and client-facing responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both technical work and building relationships with customers.

You'll initially focus on producing technical designs, estimates and supporting project enquiries before progressing into a more customer-facing position, including delivering technical presentations and CPDs to architects, contractors and specifiers.

Key Responsibilities

• Producing technical drawings and designs using CAD.
• Preparing project estimates and quotations.
• Providing technical support to customers and internal teams.
• Responding to technical enquiries.
• Building relationships with architects, contractors and specifiers.
• Attending customer meetings and project discussions.
• Delivering CPD presentations and technical demonstrations.
• Supporting projects from enquiry through to specification stage.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous CAD experience is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Comfortable dealing directly with customers.
• Confident speaking to individuals and groups.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience within construction, building products, design, estimating or technical support would be advantageous.

Sector-specific experience can be taught, so attitude, communication skills and willingness to learn are considered just as important as industry knowledge.
