Job Description

This is a chance to join a genuinely well-regarded building envelope specialist with over 30 years of experience delivering some of the UK's most technically interesting roofing packages. Recent and past projects include the Olympic Stadium transformation, Royal Sussex County Hospital, King's Health Partners Cancer Centre, and a portfolio of high-end commercial and residential schemes across London and the South East.
The business is based in Rochester and works across the full spectrum of roofing systems, from standing seam and composite panels through to single ply, hot melt, liquid systems and green roofs. That means genuine variety and the chance to work with premium system manufacturers including Kalzip, Sarnafil, IKO, Hydrotech, Kingspan, Proteus and others.
This is a senior appointment for an experienced Roofing Designer who wants their drawings taken seriously and used to build real projects. Working within a close-knit design and delivery team, you will produce detailed technical drawings across a live pipeline of commercial, public sector, residential and sport facility schemes.

Roofing Designer Salary & Benefits
Salary: 50,000 to 70,000 (DOE)

Roofing Designer Job Overview
Produce detailed 2D construction drawings for roofing packages across a range of systems
Design across standing seam, composite panel, single ply, hot melt, liquid and green roof systems
Prepare plan, section, detail, junction and setting-out drawings for site delivery
Coordinate with manufacturers such as Kalzip, Sarnafil, IKO, Hydrotech, Kingspan and Proteus on system-specific detailing
Carry out site surveys, inspections and photographic records
Support fabrication-friendly detailing and coordinate with installers on buildability
Prepare material take-offs and coordinate with the commercial team on quantities
Attend design and progress meetings with clients, architects, engineers and internal project teams
Liaise with suppliers to obtain technical specifications, U-values and warranty documentation
Maintain drawing registers, RFIs and change logs, keeping documentation up to date and accurate
Issue technical submissions and updated drawings to clients and project teams

Roofing Designer Requirements
Proven design experience within roofing, building envelope or a specialist envelope contractor
Strong technical knowledge of roofing systems including single ply, hot melt, liquid, standing seam and composite panels
Strong AutoCAD 2D capability; Revit or 3D modelling experience is advantageous
Good understanding of insulation, waterproofing, thermal performance and detailing at junctions and interfaces
Able to produce clear, accurate drawings from surveys, sketches and verbal briefs
Confident managing multiple live projects concurrently
Strong communication skills and confident engaging with clients, manufacturers and site teams
Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel to sites primarily across London and the South East
Based within commutable distance of Rochester
