Job Description

Role: Clerk of Works

Location: Central London
Rate £400- £440 per day CIS
Duration: 6 months
Hours: vary due to work flow
Days: Mon-Fri

300 North are recruiting for an experienced clerk of works to oversee the safe and compliant delivery of construction and building services projects across fixed Central Government sites in London.

Acting as the client-side representative on site, you will provide independent oversight of contractors and ensure works are delivered to the required quality, programme and technical standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Monitor works against approved drawings, specifications and programme milestones.
  • Oversee contractor performance, workmanship and site safety.
  • Ensure RAMS, permits, isolations and access controls are appropriate for live environments.
  • Identify delivery risks, delays and quality concerns, escalating these to the Project Manager.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, designers, contractors and operational teams.
  • Produce accurate, evidence-based site reports.
  • Support inspections, snagging and project readiness reviews.
  • Check that O&M manuals, asset information, certificates and warranties are complete.
  • Help ensure the smooth handover of completed projects into operational use.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture across the site.
What we re looking for
  • At least two years experience within M&E, facilities management, construction or a critical operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction health and safety requirements.
  • CDM awareness.
  • A recognised construction, mechanical, electrical or management qualification or substantial relevant experience.
  • The ability to interpret technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Strong contractor and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and reporting abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and support occasional out-of-hours requirements.

IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS or CIOB is essential
BPSS clearance is essential also.
