Building Surveyor (Damp & Mould)


Pay Rate

475 DAILY UMBRELLA


Hours

36 Hours a week(Mon-Fri)


Duration

Initial 6 month contract


Location

HYBRID- Site visits based in Newham/Office

All applicants must have own vehicle


Description

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

  1. Carry out inspections and surveys of reported damp, mould and condensation cases.
  1. Diagnose root causes, distinguishing between structural defects, water ingress, condensation and resident lifestyle factors.
  1. Prepare detailed survey reports, specifications and cost estimates for remedial works.
  1. Manage a caseload from initial inspection through to completion and post-inspection quality checks.
  1. Instruct and oversee contractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to the required standard.
  2. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Social Housing (Regulation) requirements, Building Safety requirements and the principles of Awaab's Law.

EXPERIENCE:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Essential

  1. Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  2. Experience surveying damp, mould and condensation issues within residential housing.
  3. Knowledge of building pathology and building construction.
  4. Experience preparing specifications and managing contractors.
  5. Understanding of housing repairs, disrepair and building safety legislation.
  6. Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  7. Ability to prioritise a busy workload and manage multiple cases.
  8. Competent in Microsoft Office and housing/property management systems.

Desirable

  1. Membership of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or working towards professional accreditation.
  2. Experience within a local authority or social housing provider.
  3. Knowledge of HHSRS, Decent Homes Standard and stock condition surveys.
  4. Experience supporting legal disrepair cases and expert witness reports.
