We're supporting Waltham Forest with their requirement for 2 Disrepair Surveyors to join the local authorities housing service ensuring that homes are safe, compliant, and genuinely meet residents' needs.
This is a key role within the team, focused on managing and resolving disrepair cases across a diverse residential portfolio.
The Role
As a Disrepair Surveyor, you'll take ownership of disrepair cases from inspection through to resolution. Working closely with contractors, consultants, and internal teams, you'll make sure works are delivered to a high standard.
You'll be out on site regularly, engaging directly with residents, assessing issues first-hand, and ensuring a strong resident-focused approach throughout.
You'll also collaborate closely with Building Safety Operations and Compliance teams, helping to maintain safe, well-managed homes across the borough.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out inspections and assessments of disrepair cases across the housing stock
Design and specify works, obtain estimates, oversee delivery, and sign off completed works
Maintain accurate digital records and update asset management systems
Produce reports, schedules, and documentation relating to inspections and works
Engage directly with residents to understand concerns and provide clear updates
Work closely with Housing and Legal teams to support disrepair claims and dispute resolution
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, resident-focused mindset.
You'll have:
UK Residency
Minimum 3 years' experience in disrepair surveying within a social housing provider.
Knowledge of housing legislation, repairs, and maintenance standards
Confidence working with residents and handling sensitive situations
Ability to produce clear, detailed reports and manage data accurately
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
