Carrington West are assisting Southampton City Council in the recruitment of an experienced Asbestos Surveyor to support their property and compliance team on an initial 3-month contract.
This is a high-value interim opportunity offering a competitive hourly rate, working across a varied portfolio of local authority buildings.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for undertaking asbestos surveys across a range of domestic and commercial properties, ensuring compliance with current legislation and supporting the council's statutory duties.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Management and Refurbishment & Demolition (R&D) asbestos surveys
Produce clear, accurate survey reports in line with HSG264 guidance
Identify and assess asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and associated risks
Provide technical advice to internal stakeholders and contractors
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with HSE regulations and council procedures
Support ongoing compliance and asset management programmes
Requirements
BOHS P402 (or equivalent) qualification
Proven experience carrying out asbestos surveys within public sector or large property portfolios
Strong knowledge of asbestos legislation and HSE guidance
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

£256.51 per hour

Initial 3-month contract with potential extension
Based in Southampton with site visits required
