What will you be doing as our new Project Manager (Project, Installation & Assembly Manager)? As one of our new Project Delivery Managers, you’ll deliver multi-discipled work aligned with the Pipelines strategies in logistics, production, design, assembly, SHEQ, reporting and digital creation. We have a great opportunity for an Assistant Estimator to join our Civils Pre-Constructing estimating team. This role can be located from our Belfast offices and occasional site visits throughout the UK & Ireland may be required The successful candidate will be responsible for working as part of the estimating team in the timely preparation of estimates for Civil Engineering projects throughout the UK and Ireland. As a key team member it is our preference for the successful candidate to be based in our head office in Dunmurry and will communicate with a wide range of construction professionals both within the company and externally. This role will require a keen eye for detail with strong ICT skills for recording and collating data relating to tenders. The successful candidate will have the potential for continuous improvement and enhance their commercial knowledge leading to career growth within Farrans either within the estimating department or site operational teams. Farrans will provide detailed support and training to achieve this objective. Specific training requirements will be reviewed with the successful candidate. Main responsibilities * Work alongside the Estimator(s) in preparation of commercial tender submissions. * Attend regular tender review meetings with the Estimator(s). * Identify, prepare and distribute enquiry packages to material suppliers and sub-contractors. * Establish pricing structure within the Conquest estimating software. * Import and maintain up to date bill of quantities within the estimating software. * Co-ordinate and/or undertake measurement of works to facilitate enquiries and pricing. * Allocation of resources to facilitate supply chain engagement. * Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers / subcontractors and where necessary communicate with suppliers/sub-contractors to bring quotations in line with the project specification and respond to technical queries arising from the enquiry process. * Undertake option appraisal through supply chain engagement. * Managing subcontract and supplier tender return dates, ensuring they are submitted on time. * Maintain up to date records of active and prospective supply chain on company database. * Manage effective communication with subcontractors, suppliers and colleagues. * Work collaboratively with other Farrans departments. * Assist the Estimator in submitting tender/bids, to be returned within the set guidelines. * Prepare Handover documentation on confirmation of winning tenders. * Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies. * Strive for continuous improvement within the estimating process and your area of responsibility. Skills & Experience required * Educated to Honors Degree level, in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management or a related subject. HND/HNC or strong construction related experience will be considered * Full Drivers License * Working knowledge of building construction with onsite experience in an estimating role * Understanding of tender procedures * Working knowledge of bills of quantities * Advanced knowledge in the complete Microsoft Office package * Strong numerical/mathematical and data analysis skills * High attention to detail * Ability to read architectural and design team drawings (although full training will be provided) * Experience with estimating software beneficial What Farrans can offer you Our people are at the core of everything we do. What will you be doing as our new Senior QS? As our Senior QS you will manage a team of multi-discipline contractors, multi-disciplined supply chain and encourage collaboration and innovation to be industry leading in commercial management. Duties & Responsibilities * Achieve the appropriate commercial result for projects through the provision of accurate financial reporting. * Build and maintain working relationships with the supply chain and clients. * Manage subcontractor supplier accounts, financially and contractually. Monitor subcontractors against the programme. Negotiate final accounts. * Develop, manage, and coordinate the procurement schedule. * Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring that they meet the conditions of the contract (re-measure as required). * Ensure payments to Sub Contractors and Supplier are made to the terms and work in progress cash targets. * Ensure that Farrans Construction is compliant with all contractual requirements. * Monitor project expenditure against budget. Provide analysis of cost over-run and cost projections. Exploring opportunities to maximise value and minimise cost. * Liaise with clients on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional payments. * Identify legitimate contractual claim situations and prepare suitable and documentation to clients. * Create project specific commercial risk and opportunity profiles with measurable controls and allocate responsibility. * Lead and support a team of Surveyors. This will include people management interventions such as performance management, individual focus reviews, manpower planning and the continuous professional development of the team. * Mentor and coach your commercial team members in line with Company standards and values, to maximise the potential of both the teams and the individuals in line with the Company values and behavioural competencies. * Analyse and compile records & evidence for impacts on Projects attributed to Covid-19 and Brexit. A bit about your skills and experience required. * At least ten years pre and post contract experience in a construction commercial management role working on major projects. * Experience administering NEC form of contract. * NEC Change Management Experience * Risk Management * Degree or demonstratable suitable commercial management experience * Major Civil Engineering Project Experience * Strong understanding of modern Civil Engineering techniques, plant and equipment and an appreciation of logistical needs/issues. * Strong understanding of construction contract conditions. * Appreciations of the impact of cost in the completion of a programme and development of a construction solutions. * Good career continuity. * Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software. * Excellent attention to detail and meticulous planning skills * Strong IT Skills * Accurate and consistent approach * Self-motivated. Capable of working under minimal supervision and on own initiative. * An excellent professional demeanor.
