* Supporting the senior engineer and site managers on technical aspects of remediation projects to ensure remedial objectives are met
* Carrying out site work including verification sampling, set up and commissioning of treatment systems
* Ensuring site records are kept up to date (daily logs, soil audit, deliveries etc.)
* Writing completion / verification reports
* Liaising with client representatives or third party verification engineers in addition to regulators

About the requirements:

Key responsibilities
•On a day to day basis provide guidance and advice to the business on compliance with statutory requirements and company standards using Guidance and Observation visits
•To respond to requests for advice which fall within the job holders area of expertise, through discussion with the SHE Manager, and others where appropriate
•Undertaking risk assessments relating to SHE.
•Proactively working with operational teams during the project lifecycle to ensure that SHE is considered at all stages and that relevant control measures are identified
•Assisting the business with the implementation of the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards
•Undertaking ‘active’ monitoring of company projects using the monitoring system
•Highlighting areas where poor practice and/or significant risk have occurred.
•Investigating incidents and producing detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement
•Liaising with enforcing authorities as necessary
•Assisting the SHE Manager in the preparation, review and updating of policies and procedures relating to the management of SHE

The Role

Principal accountabilities of the role include:
* Maintain a high profile with external property contacts by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with local authorities, local agents, land owners and other developers within the area, in pursuit of opportunities for the company.
* Liaise between the Land and other internal departments, together with other Divisions and Group, to ensure opportunities are optimised and effective working relationships are developed to assist in the land acquisition process.
* Ensure that acquisition proposals are presented, in an objective and professional manner, with required input from other departments and in line with Group/Divisional procedures.
* In liaison with the Technical Department, responsible for appointment of external professionals and consultants in relation to site appraisal
* Responsible for all projects from initial site identification, appraisal and approval to the point of purchase and implementable planning consent being obtained, in line with budgets.
* Assist the Land Director in the review and finalisation of the Land Strategy, managing the land bid and land acquisition process. You will maintain and enhance a contacts network and support the Land Director with more complex land deals. You must have excellent IT and written, verbal and listening communication skills.

The Project
Major city centre refurbishment of two linked modern office buildings in Birmingham. The works consist of a Cat A fit out to all office floors
including full M&E replacement, the reconfiguration and creation of new receptions & entrance lobbies, passenger lifts and core/WC upgrades.
Essential and Desirable Criteria
Essential:
A track record of successful delivery of projects.
A variety of construction operations.
Using Microsoft suite of Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.
Controlling costs, timing and quality in line with targets.
Efficient use of all staff and resources.
Reading and accurately interpreting programmes, drawings and technical specifications.
Ensuring project team(s) understanding of drawings and technical specifications.
Understanding and appropriately sharing build programmes.
A commitment to quality.
Managing teams including the supply chain, direct employees and consultants.

Essential and Desirable Criteria
Essential:
A track record of successful delivery of projects.
A variety of construction operations.
Using Microsoft suite of Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.
Controlling costs, timing and quality in line with targets.
Efficient use of all staff and resources.
Reading and accurately interpreting programmes, drawings and technical specifications.
Ensuring project team(s) understanding of drawings and technical specifications.
Understanding and appropriately sharing build programmes.
A commitment to quality.
Managing teams including the supply chain, direct employees and consultants.
Playing a leading role which positively contributes to the project team(s).
Proactively liaising with customers and the supply chain.
Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ4 etc) or equivalent.
Appropriate CSCS card.
SMSTS certificate.
First Aid at Work certificate.
Able to travel independently to work.
Desirable:
Relevant degree.
