Cityscape Recruitment
Preconstruction Technical Manager
Cityscape Recruitment City, London
About the company: Our privately owned client who is based in Central London is a leading name within the enabling works industry with a group annual turnover in excess of £200M. They undertake technical civil engineering projects throughout the City with values ranging up to £40M and their services include demolition, basement construction, RC frames, temporary works, remediation, earthworks and concrete works. With a low staff turnover, this contractor, who operates as principal contractor on the majority of their projects, rarely recruits, and this opportunity has arisen purely due to company expansion. Having worked closely with this business for over 10 years, I would highly recommend them to professionals looking to join a forward-thinking contractor that can offer the opportunity to work on large, technical engineering projects in Central London and throughout the UK. About the opportunity: Due to company expansion, my client is recruiting permanently for a Preconstruction Technical Manager who will be responsible for assisting the preconstruction lead, working alongside preconstruction managers and estimators, to ensure tenders are technically considered and can be successfully delivered by site teams. As a Preconstruction Technical Manager, you will be responsible for producing and giving tender review presentations and leading site walks to better understand and develop tender strategies moving forward. As a Preconstruction Technical Manager, your role will include, but not be limited to leading the technical development to unlock complex projects; coordinating and managing technical answers and prioritising the overall delivery of the tender programme and solution; producing programmes utilising Asta; supporting PQQ process and providing technical answers to the bid management team; producing temporary works design briefs, creating outline method statements and managing subcontractor quotation teams to deliver best possible deliverable programmes and prices to name just a few duties. Projects you will be involved on will be valued up to £40M, and these range from top-down demolition to complex cut and carve structures with hydraulic jacking, infilling within retrofit projects and newbuild large towers with deep basements. About the requirements: To be considered for this opportunity, you must hold an industry-related degree and proven experience of either working onsite as a Project Engineer or Project Manager within RC/Build environments, ideally within Central London (and be keen to move into Preconstruction) or already be operating as a Preconstruction Manager. Additionally, you must have good presentation skills and the ability to develop construction sequences and programmes of work for the most efficient working methods. About the benefits and rewards: For this permanent opportunity, my client is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere from £75,000 - £90,000 per annum; however, the specific salary will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package on offer which includes all travel expenses covered, private health care and enrolment in their pension scheme. Lastly, due to the current team structure and a growing company, fantastic career progression opportunities will be available. How to apply: If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please send a copy of your CV to me or call the main office landline to discuss further on a confidential basis.

Cityscape Recruitment
Senior Project Manager / Project Director RC Frame & Groundwork Packages - London £90,000 - £120,000 + Benefits (PAYE or Self-Employed) About the Employer: This business is one of my top clients. Having worked with them for the past 10+ years, I have seen them develop in both size and capability over this time. They now currently turnover above £120 million per annum, building concrete frame and groundwork packages ranging in value up to £50 million each for a variety of residential and commercial contractors and developers throughout London and the surrounding Home Counties. They have a very modern edge to the business while maintaining traditional roots. On a personal note, I believe this company is one of the best because of the environment they create for their people and because of the personalities of the superb senior management/directorship team. They go that extra mile to not only retain their staff but to truly keep them happy to be with the business. Small things have been added to the office, like a gym that people have access to all day. They have a treatment room where massages and cosmetic treatments are available to everyone on Fridays, free of charge. And they now even have a rooftop garden and BBQ area. I d want to work here myself if I had the relevant experience! They really are a great company to work for to gain great project experience, to develop capability in modern construction techniques and to be part of the values they believe in. About the Opportunity: With projects secured, this business is looking to recruit a Senior Project Manager / Project Director for projects in London. All projects include RC frames, groundwork, and basement works, and your first project will be a £20m+ package. Whether you are working on a £10m package or a £50m+ package, the expectation remains the same; as the lead on your project, you will be expected to oversee everything from programme to budget. Client relationships should be developed, and it will be your responsibility to organise, plan and execute the works involved in multi-million-pound groundwork and RC frame packages. About the Requirements: Suitable candidates need to be degree qualified in civil engineering or construction management and must be able to show a strong history from a site engineer level through to project management over the last 5-10+ years. I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you but can give you up-to-date information on each of them, helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward. Shape projects long before construction begins! We're working with one of the UK's fastest-growing specialist M&E contractors to recruit an MEP Pre Construction Manager. This is a rare opportunity to join an ambitious business that has experienced exceptional growth and established an outstanding reputation for delivering technically challenging projects across the defence, education, commercial and public sectors. Operating as part of a highly successful construction group, the business combines the agility of a specialist contractor with the security, investment and long-term pipeline of a major principal contractor. Continued growth has created a brand-new opportunity for someone to establish and lead its pre construction function. This isn't a traditional Project Manager role. We're looking for someone who enjoys the front end of projects, working closely with clients, consultants, design teams, commercial and procurement to ensure projects are fully coordinated, commercially robust and ready for successful delivery. If you enjoy improving processes, solving technical challenges and influencing projects before they reach site, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact within a growing business. The Opportunity Working directly with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, you'll take ownership of projects from early client engagement through feasibility, design development, estimating, procurement planning and mobilisation before handing projects over to the delivery teams. You'll play a key role in shaping the company's pre construction function, influencing internal processes, improving project outcomes and supporting the continued growth of the business. Responsibilities Lead the MEP pre construction and PCSA process from concept through to project handover. Coordinate electrical and wider building services design development. Manage estimating, commercial and procurement activities. Develop procurement strategies and manage early package procurement. Drive value engineering and buildability reviews. Manage project budgets, programmes, risks and opportunities. Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners. Support bid strategy and early contractor involvement. Present project updates and recommendations to senior leadership. Ensure projects are fully coordinated before mobilisation. Continuously improve pre construction processes across the business. About You This role could suit someone currently working as an: Electrical Project Manager Building Services Manager Electrical Contracts Manager MEP Design Manager Pre Construction Manager You'll come from an electrical or MEP building services background, with experience leading projects through the pre construction phase. You'll be commercially aware, organised and confident working with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders, with experience in design management, procurement, value engineering, budgeting and project coordination. Experience of PCSA , NEC and JCT contracts would be advantageous. Why Apply? Newly created position with genuine autonomy. Work directly alongside an experienced and supportive leadership team. Opportunity to build and shape a growing pre construction function. Exposure to complex, high-profile projects. Long-term career progression as the business continues to expand. Stable pipeline of secured work. Collaborative culture where ideas and innovation are encouraged. Join a business that invests in people, systems and long-term growth. Security Requirements Due to the nature of the projects undertaken, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. In practice, this opportunity is suitable only for British Nationals , as this is a requirement of many of the projects you'll be supporting.
