Small Works & Frameworks Contracts Manager
65,000 + car allowance Permanent Full-time
Take ownership of projects. Build strong client relationships. Make an impact.
An established construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee a varied portfolio of small works and construction projects valued up to 1 million.
Working across public and private sector client frameworks, you'll take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects, leading site teams, managing commercial performance and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
This opportunity would suit an established Contracts Manager or an experienced construction professional with a background in minor works, refurbishment, planned maintenance or multi-project delivery who is ready to take the next step.
Direct framework experience is advantageous, but experience managing multiple construction projects, demanding client relationships and contractual responsibilities is equally important.
The role
You'll manage projects from planning through to completion, working closely with clients, site teams, subcontractors and senior management to deliver a consistent, high-quality service.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing multiple concurrent construction and small works projects, ensuring delivery against programme, budget and quality expectations.
Building strong relationships with clients and maintaining regular communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Leading and coordinating site managers, working foremen, tradespeople and subcontractors.
Monitoring costs, commercial performance, contract risks and opportunities.
Maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Visiting sites to monitor progress, resolve issues and ensure works meet the required standards.
Supporting tender submissions, estimating, project planning and logistics.
Identifying potential delivery challenges and implementing practical solutions.
Working collaboratively with commercial colleagues and senior management to support successful project outcomes.
What you'll bring
We're looking for a commercially minded, organised construction professional who can take ownership, manage competing priorities and build confidence with clients and project teams.
You'll ideally have:
At least five years' relevant construction experience with a contractor.
Experience managing multiple projects, minor works, refurbishment or other varied construction packages.
A good understanding of construction contracts, project costs, risks and delivery programmes.
Experience coordinating site teams and subcontractors.
Strong client-facing, communication and stakeholder management skills.
A practical approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Experience using Microsoft Office and project planning software, such as Asta.
Experience working within public sector contracts or formal frameworks would be beneficial, but candidates with strong transferable project and contract management experience are encouraged to apply.
Essential requirements
A construction-related HND, NVQ, degree or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent competence through experience.
A current, appropriate CSCS card supported by a recognised qualification; Black or professionally qualified status is preferred where appropriate. Cards held solely under grandfather rights will not be accepted.
A current SMSTS qualification.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
Willingness to wear the required PPE and uniform on site.
Salary and benefits
65,000 per annum.
Car allowance.
33 days' annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays.
Contributory pension scheme.
Life assurance.
Company-provided PPE and uniform.
On-site parking at the main office.
Ongoing training and professional development.
Working arrangements: Permanent, full-time, office and site based, with standard hours between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required to meet project demands.
If you're an experienced construction professional looking for a role with varied projects, client responsibility and the opportunity to develop your experience within a framework-led environment, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
