Platinum Search Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a well-established contractor based in Aylesbury, who are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support their expanding commercial team on a permanent full time basis. We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join our clients established building maintenance company. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and managing the commercial aspects of building maintenance and construction projects ranging from £1,000 to £2,000,000 in value. Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities: Prepare detailed cost estimates for building maintenance and construction projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission Conduct site visits and surveys to assess scope of works and identify any challenges or risks Produce accurate material take-offs and labour calculations from drawings, specifications, and site assessments Prepare comprehensive pricing schedules, bills of quantities, and tender documentation Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and ensure value for money Review contract documents, specifications, and drawings to identify scope, risks, and opportunities Manage the commercial aspects of projects including valuations, variations, final accounts, and cash flow forecasting Prepare monthly applications for payment and manage project budgets to ensure profitability Assess and price contract variations and additional works, ensuring proper documentation and approval Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and the supply chain Support project teams with commercial advice and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Quantity Surveyor Requirements: Proven experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor within building maintenance, construction, or facilities management sectors Demonstrable experience with projects ranging from small works (£1k+) through to substantial contracts (up to £2m) Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building maintenance practices Excellent numerical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office, particularly Excel Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong commercial awareness with understanding of contract terms and conditions Excellent communication and negotiation skills Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tenders simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines Full UK driving licence Quantity Surveyor Benefits/Package: Competitive salary commensurate with experience Company vehicle or car allowance Opportunities for professional development and career progression Varied and interesting project portfolio Supportive team environment Pension scheme and additional benefits package If you are a Quantity Surveyor looking for a role offering genuine responsibility, variety, and progression within a supportive and growing contractor, we would be keen to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, reputable business delivering a diverse range of projects across the South East, including refurbishment, heritage, and new build schemes. Please note this is a full time office based role. Our client is seeking to appoint an Estimator with heritage experience to take on a key role within their pre-construction function, following a planned retirement within the team. Working closely with the Directors and trusted supply chain, you will be involved in pricing a broad range of projects, typically valued between 100k and 2m, with increasing exposure to schemes up to 4m.
