Job Description

I can tailor this to Bond Project Services' St Albans consultancy profile, but I can't live-check their current website in this chat, so I won't invent named projects or sectors I can't verify. I've therefore kept the project references broad while making the role senior, client-facing and commercially focused.

A specialist construction consultancy in St Albans is looking to appoint an Associate Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their senior cost management team. The successful Associate Quantity Surveyor will take a leading role across a varied portfolio of building projects while supporting the continued growth of the consultancy.

The Associate Quantity Surveyor's Role

The Associate Quantity Surveyor will oversee commissions from feasibility and cost planning through procurement, construction and final account, working directly with clients, consultants and contractors.

Alongside project delivery, the Associate Quantity Surveyor will play an important role in developing client relationships, supporting junior team members and helping maintain a high standard of commercial advice across the business.

This opportunity would suit an Associate Quantity Surveyor who enjoys being hands-on with projects but also wants greater influence over clients, teams and the wider direction of a growing consultancy. The Associate Quantity Surveyor will be trusted to manage key accounts and take ownership of complex commissions with limited supervision.

The Associate Quantity Surveyor

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline

  • MRICS qualified or equivalent professional experience

  • Strong UK PQS / construction consultancy background

  • Proven experience managing projects independently from inception to completion

  • Strong pre- and post-contract cost management knowledge

  • Confident preparing cost plans, tender documentation and procurement advice

  • Good knowledge of JCT contracts and UK procurement routes

  • Experience managing valuations, variations and final accounts

  • Strong client-facing, presentation and relationship-management skills

  • Previous experience mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors

  • Commercially aware and comfortable managing several commissions

  • Ambitious Associate Quantity Surveyor looking for long-term leadership progression

In Return

  • 75,000 - 90,000 per annum

  • St Albans-based position

  • Senior project and client responsibility

  • Opportunity to manage and develop junior staff

  • Broad project exposure

  • Strong influence over client relationships

  • Professional development and leadership opportunities

  • Clear route towards Director-level progression

  • Collaborative specialist consultancy environment
