Our client, a principal contractor in the water and civil engineering sector, is seeking a General Foreman / Site Manager for a contract position on a major wastewater treatment works project near Bournemouth. The role will involve supervising site operations, coordinating construction activities and supporting the successful delivery of civil engineering works in a safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising daily site operations across the wastewater treatment works project
- Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain project progress
- Monitoring civil engineering and water infrastructure works to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance
- Allocating labour, plant and materials effectively across the site
- Working closely with the Site Manager, engineers and project management team
- Identifying and resolving site issues to support the programme and delivery milestones
- Completing site records, inspections and progress updates as required
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a General Foreman, Site Manager or similar position within civil engineering
- Background in the water industry, wastewater treatment or utilities construction
- Strong understanding of construction methods, site coordination and civil engineering works
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a construction environment
- Ability to supervise teams and manage subcontractor activities effectively
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and project documentation
- Relevant site management qualifications, such as SMSTS, would be advantageous
