Senior Quantity Surveyor - Power & Infrastructure

Location: UK
Sector: Power, Utilities & Infrastructure
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

The Opportunity

A leading specialist contractor operating across the power and infrastructure sector is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.

The business delivers major electrical infrastructure projects for hyperscale data centres, industrial clients and grid operators across the UK and Europe. With a strong project pipeline and a focus on complex, high-value programmes, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of significant commercial packages and play a key role in project delivery.

Reporting to a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with project and delivery teams from contract award through to completion and energisation.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple contracts, ensuring that risk, cost and value are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading tendering and bid submissions, including pricing, commercial assessments and review of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Managing monthly valuations, applications for payment, variations, cost reports and CVRs across multiple high-value contracts.
  • Managing subcontractor relationships, including procurement, negotiation of rates, assessment of applications and agreement of variations.
  • Identifying commercial risks at an early stage and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Working closely with project managers and delivery teams to ensure commercial objectives remain aligned with project requirements.
  • Providing accurate financial forecasting and effective cash-flow management.
  • Supporting the development of junior Quantity Surveyors and contributing to a positive, high-performing commercial team.

About You

The successful candidate will have a strong commercial background within power, utilities, civils or wider infrastructure, ideally with experience working on high-value projects.

You will have:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on high-budget infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts within infrastructure or civil engineering environments.
  • Experience producing detailed financial forecasts, cost reports and managing project cash flow.
  • A degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • A full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
  • Chartered or Incorporated status, or actively working towards professional qualification.
  • Membership or accreditation with RICS, ICES or CIOB.

You will have the autonomy to take ownership of major commercial responsibilities, work alongside experienced project professionals and contribute directly to the successful delivery of complex infrastructure programmes.
