Site Manager - M&E / Fire Alarm Systems - Nights

Daniel Owen are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager with a strong M&E background to oversee a major fire alarm upgrade programme across a university campus.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the safe and efficient delivery of works taking place predominantly during night shifts, ensuring minimal disruption to the university's day-to-day operations. The role will involve coordinating specialist M&E contractors and subcontractors while maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality and programme delivery.

Location: Birmingham City Centre

Night rate: 350.00 per night (Negotiable)

Contract Type: Freelance

Start date: Last week of October - Christmas

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise night-time M&E works across an operational university campus.
  • Oversee the installation and upgrade of fire alarm and associated life-safety systems.
  • Coordinate specialist M&E subcontractors, engineers and site operatives.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, RAMS and programme requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and monitor quality of installation.
  • Manage permits, access arrangements and safe systems of work.
  • Liaise with the project management team, client representatives and university stakeholders.
  • Ensure all works comply with relevant health & safety legislation and project procedures.
  • Monitor progress against programme and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
  • Manage defects, snagging and handover requirements.
  • Ensure the site is left safe, secure and ready for normal university operations each morning.

Requirements:

  • SMSTS
  • CSCS
  • First Aid
  • Proven experience working as a Site Manager within an M&E environment.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, electrical installations or life-safety systems.
  • Previous experience managing works within a live/operational environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on universities, hospitals, schools or other occupied/public-sector environments would be advantageous.
  • Comfortable managing subcontractors and specialist M&E trades.
  • Strong understanding of RAMS, permits and site health & safety.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work night shifts consistently throughout the project.
