Site Manager (PCSM)


Our client is seeking a Site Manager (PCSM) to support major power distribution and transmission projects across the UK. This permanent role is suited to an experienced M&E Site Manager or Substation Site Manager with a strong background in 400kV+ environments and Principal Contractor responsibilities.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Discharge Principal Contractor responsibilities in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Develop, implement and manage the Construction Phase Plan and associated site management arrangements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary construction activities, including civil, mechanical and electrical works.
  • Manage day-to-day site operations to ensure safe, efficient and timely project delivery.
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, direct labour and stakeholders working on site.
  • Ensure RAMS, permits and work packs are reviewed, approved and implemented before work begins.
  • Monitor progress, resources, plant and materials, taking corrective action where required.
  • Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, inspections, audits and daily briefings while promoting a positive safety culture.


Job Requirements:

    • Significant experience in a Site Manager / PCSM role delivering major Transmission & Distribution or substation projects.
    • National Grid SR163 accreditation and SMSTS with IOSH, or NEBOSH certification.
    • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations, Principal Contractor responsibilities and safe delivery within live construction environments.
    • Experience managing Civil, Mechanical and Electrical substation construction activities.
    • Proven experience reviewing and approving RAMS, managing Temporary Works and completing ITPs.
    • Strong knowledge of construction site setup, coordination and project delivery.
    • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to lead site teams and deliver projects safely, on programme, within budget and to quality standards.
    • Valid CSCS Card and relevant site-based certification



Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate site records, diaries, reports and construction documentation.
  • Establish suitable site rules, welfare facilities and emergency arrangements.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Act as the principal site representative and main point of contact for client and stakeholder interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, wellbeing, environmental and company policies.
  • Support effective communication between engineering, commercial, planning and commissioning teams.
