Contract Construction

Job Description

About us

We are a commercial consultancy based in Feltham, specialising in the delivery of data centre projects. Our clients rely on us for commercial and contract management across complex mechanical and electrical (M&E) packages, typically procured under NEC contracts. We are looking for an ambitious graduate to join our growing team and develop a career in this fast-moving sector.

The role

You will support our commercial team on live data centre projects, working on the cost management and contractual administration of M&E packages. This is a hands-on graduate role with structured development and exposure to high-value, technically complex projects from day one.

Key responsibilities

Cost management

You will assist with the preparation and monitoring of cost plans, budgets and cash flow forecasts for M&E works. You will carry out measurement and take-offs of M&E services, help build up cost estimates, and review and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations, preparing tender comparisons and reports. You will also assist with the valuation of interim payments, including materials on and off site and long-lead equipment such as generators, UPS systems, switchgear, chillers and CRAH/CRAC units, and track cost movements to prepare regular cost reports for clients and project teams.

NEC contract administration

You will support the administration of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including the Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) and its main options (A to F). This includes assisting with the preparation, assessment and tracking of compensation events, early warning notices and programme-related change, and maintaining accurate contract records, registers and correspondence in line with contractual time limits. You will also help prepare payment assessments, certificates and notices under the contract.

Project support

You will attend site visits, progress meetings and commercial meetings, taking notes and following up actions, and liaise with project managers, design teams, contractors and supply chain partners. You will monitor design development and change, flagging potential cost and commercial impacts early, and assist with final account preparation and project close-out.

Professional development

You will work towards RICS chartership through the APC (Assessment of Professional Competence), with mentoring and support from senior colleagues. You will also build your knowledge of data centre infrastructure, resilience tiers, commissioning and integrated systems testing.

Person specification

Essential

We are looking for someone with a degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline, ideally RICS accredited. You will have a genuine interest in M&E services and mission-critical environments, strong numeracy and attention to detail, and good written and verbal communication skills. You should be confident using Microsoft Excel and Word, able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines, and eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable

It would be an advantage to have placement, internship or work experience in a commercial or QS role, along with a basic understanding of NEC contracts, for example through coursework or NEC training. Familiarity with measurement software (such as Bluebeam or CostX) or cost management systems, an understanding of mechanical and electrical building services, and a full UK driving licence (useful for site visits) would also be welcome.

What we offer

We offer structured APC support, including mentoring, study support and RICS fees, as well as training in NEC contract administration. You will gain exposure to major data centre projects and leading clients, with clear progression within a specialist consultancy.

This role is office/site based and may involve travel to the EU.
