AC Engineer Retail Facilities Maintenance

Location: M25 / Greater London
Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading Facilities Maintenance company for an experienced AC Engineer to join their team, covering a portfolio of retail sites across the M25 and Greater London.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to join an established business with a strong pipeline of work and the opportunity for long-term progression.

The Role

As an AC Engineer, you will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of air conditioning and associated HVAC systems across a range of retail sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a portfolio of retail sites within the M25.
    • Attend reactive maintenance and breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to minimise downtime and disruption to the client.
    • Service, maintain and repair a wide range of air conditioning and HVAC systems, including split, multi-split, VRF and VRV systems.
    • Carry out fault-finding and diagnostics on mechanical and electrical components associated with AC systems.
    • Identify potential equipment failures and recommend appropriate remedial works or replacement where required.
    • Carry out routine inspections of AC equipment, identifying defects, leaks, wear and general performance issues.
    • Undertake F-Gas-related activities, including refrigerant recovery, charging and leak detection in line with current legislation.
    • Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks within agreed response times and SLAs.
    • Attend emergency call-outs where required and ensure issues are resolved efficiently and professionally.
    • Carry out minor repairs and component replacements, including filters, fans, pumps, belts, valves, sensors and other associated components.
    • Liaise professionally with store managers, site teams, facilities managers and client representatives while working on-site.
    • Provide clear updates to the client regarding faults, completed works and any additional remedial requirements.
    • Complete job sheets, service reports, PPM records and electronic maintenance documentation accurately and promptly.
    • Identify additional works and raise recommendations where further remedial or replacement works are required.
    • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health & safety, company procedures and relevant industry legislation.
    • Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment while operating within live retail environments.
    • Manage your own workload effectively, prioritising PPM, reactive calls and urgent breakdowns across multiple sites.
    • Work collaboratively with other engineers, subcontractors and the wider facilities management team when required.
    • Ensure tools, equipment, PPE and company vehicles are maintained and used appropriately.
    • Support the wider mechanical and facilities maintenance operation when required, working flexibly across the client's retail portfolio.
About You

We are looking for an experienced AC Engineer with:

  • Previous experience in commercial or retail facilities maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of air conditioning systems
  • Relevant AC/HVAC qualifications
  • F-Gas certification
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage a busy workload
