  • Ensuring the school environment is safe, secure and well maintained
  • Carrying out general maintenance and site duties

Caretaker / Site Manager - Key Responsibilities

As Caretaker / Site Manager, you will:

  • Ensure the school site is safe, secure and well maintained.
  • Carry out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks.
  • Complete daily checks of the school buildings and grounds.
  • Open and secure the school site as required.
  • Monitor and report any maintenance, health and safety or security issues.
  • Liaise with contractors and external services when required.
  • Support with deliveries, moving furniture and setting up rooms.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the school site and grounds.
  • Ensure site procedures and health and safety requirements are followed.
  • Respond promptly to any site-related issues that arise during the school day.
  • Work closely with the school leadership and administrative team.

Caretaker / Site Manager - About You

The successful Caretaker / Site Manager will have:

  • Previous experience in a caretaker, site assistant, facilities or maintenance role, desirable.
  • Experience working within a school or similar environment, desirable.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to maintenance and repairs.
  • Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A reliable, responsible and proactive approach.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and respond effectively to unexpected issues.
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.
