Civils Site Manager
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £45,000 - £47,000 per annum (subject to experience)

Role Overview
As Civils Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination and supervision of civil engineering construction activities on site. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards, and in accordance with programme and budget requirements.
You will be responsible for managing site teams, subcontractors, materials and plant resources while maintaining effective communication with clients, stakeholders and the wider project delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all day-to-day site operations to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policies and site procedures.
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Supervise and coordinate direct labour, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor productivity and performance of site teams to ensure programme targets are achieved.
- Liaise with the Civils Construction Manager regarding progress, resource requirements and programme delivery.
- Act as the main point of contact on site for clients, consultants and stakeholders.
- Ensure all works are carried out to the required quality standards and specifications.
- Coordinate material, plant and equipment deliveries in line with project schedules.
- Monitor progress against programme and promptly report delays, risks or issues.
- Ensure site records, daily diaries, permits and documentation are maintained accurately.
- Ensure daywork sheets are checked, recorded and signed in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Monitor and manage site housekeeping standards.
- Identify and resolve site issues proactively to minimise disruption to programme delivery.
- Attend site meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Assist in the management and close-out of snagging, defects and completion works.
- Ensure protection of existing services and immediately report any damage or incidents.
- Support the successful handover of completed projects to the client.
Continuous Improvement
You will contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Construction Department by:
- Identifying problems and proposing practical solutions.
- Promoting safe working practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with company Quality, Environmental Management and Safety Systems (QEMS).
- Supporting teamwork and collaboration across all departments.
- Participating in training and professional development activities.

- Proven experience as a Site Manager within the civil engineering sector.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and programmes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
- IT literacy including Microsoft Office packages.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple work activities.
Desirable
- Experience delivering highways, infrastructure, utilities, drainage or groundworks projects.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
