Our client is a fast-growing, family-orientated civil engineering contractor delivering projects across the Thames Water network. With a growing portfolio of secured projects throughout the AMP8 programme, they are looking to appoint an experienced Working Supervisor / Ganger to support the delivery of clean water infrastructure projects across the Swindon area.

The Role

As a Working Supervisor / Ganger, you will lead site operatives while remaining hands-on with day-to-day construction activities. You will be responsible for ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining programme targets and client expectations.

Projects will be based on sites across the Swindon area, and candidates must be willing to travel between sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate groundworks and civils teams on site
  • Lead by example through active involvement in site activities
  • Organise daily work programmes and allocate resources effectively
  • Ensure all works are completed safely and in line with company procedures
  • Carry out site briefings and toolbox talks
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and programme performance
  • Liaise with Site Managers, Engineers, and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with Thames Water and client specifications
  • Maintain site records and support project reporting requirements
  • Promote a positive health, safety, and environmental culture
Essential Requirements

CSCS Gold Card

SSSTS or SMSTS

Previous experience supervising civil engineering, utilities, water infrastructure, or groundworks projects

Strong understanding of excavation, drainage, reinstatement, and general groundworks activities

Ability to lead teams and coordinate site operations effectively

Full UK Driving Licence

Ability to travel between sites across the Swindon region

Desirable Qualifications

EUSR National Water Hygiene Card

EUSR SHEA Water

EUSR Utility Excavation (Cat 1 & 2)
