Site Agent / Senior Engineer - Highways (Nights)

Your new company

You will be joining a leading main contractor delivering a major highways infrastructure scheme. Due to the progression of the main construction works, they are looking to strengthen their delivery team with an experienced Site Agent / Senior Engineer to oversee roadworks on the night shift.This is a night-time position working 7pm to 5am, suited to someone with strong highways experience, ideally gained within a motorway environment.

Your new role

Reporting directly to the Sub Agent, you will oversee the delivery of roadworks packages, ensuring works are completed safely, to the required quality, on programme and within budget, in accordance with the scheme design, highway specifications and Development Consent Order requirements.Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing roadworks packages and coordinating day and night work scopes.
• Developing and managing short-term programmes and sequencing of works.
• Monitoring progress, budgets, risks and opportunities across your packages.
• Working closely with planning, commercial, SHE, design, engineering and quality teams.
• Ensuring RAMS, permits and QA documentation are in place and correctly completed.
• Managing and supporting junior engineers throughout delivery.
• Driving high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
• Promoting a Right First Time approach and identifying opportunities to improve productivity and reduce rework.
• Liaising with planners and Quantity Surveyors to monitor programme and commercial performance.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have previous experience managing civil engineering or highways packages within a main contractor environment, with strong knowledge of site delivery and short-term programming.You will ideally have:

• Previous roadworks/highways construction experience, with motorway experience highly desirable.
• Package management experience, including short-term programming, budget monitoring and reporting.
• Good working knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing, supporting and developing junior engineers.
• Strong understanding of construction health & safety, quality and site documentation.
• A Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, an allied subject or equivalent vocational training.
• Relevant CSCS card.
• SMSTS or equivalent H&S qualification.
• AutoCAD experience would be advantageous.
