Senior Quantity Surveyor (HV Cabling) North London Outside IR35
Location: North London (St John's Wood to Elstree corridor)
Rate: Approx. 500/day (Outside IR35)
Duration: circa 4-year programme

Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major High Voltage (HV) cabling replacement project connecting two National Grid substations in North London, between St John's Wood and Elstree.
This is a long-term opportunity offering an initial part-time commitment before ramping up into a full-time role as the project progresses.
Commitment
- First 12 months: 2 days per week
- Following 24 months: Full-time
- Final 12 months: 3 days per week
- Outside IR35
- Approx. 500/day
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of a major National Grid HV cabling project.
- Administer and manage NEC contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Cost control, forecasting and reporting.
- Managing applications, valuations, variations, compensation events and final accounts.
- Subcontract procurement and commercial management.
- Supporting project delivery teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Liaising directly with client, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
- Maintaining robust commercial records and audit trails throughout the programme.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major utility, power, transmission, distribution or HV infrastructure projects.
- Extensive NEC contract experience.
- Previous experience working on National Grid projects.
- Demonstrable track record of taking projects from inception through to final account and close out over multiple years.
- Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor delivering National Grid works.
- Strong commercial, contractual and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work on-site as project requirements increase.
Preferred Background
- National Grid electricity transmission or cable replacement projects.
- HV cable installation, power infrastructure, substations or major utility frameworks.
- Candidates located within commuting distance of North or North West London.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be able to evidence several years of involvement on a National Grid project, demonstrating ownership of the commercial function from project mobilisation through delivery and final account. They will be comfortable operating independently during the early stages before becoming a key member of the project team as delivery ramps up.
