A successful Mechanical Building Services contractor is looking to appoint a Junior / Intermediate Mechanical Estimator who has already developed a solid grounding in the role and is now looking for greater tender exposure, experienced support and the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility.

The business delivers high-quality mechanical projects across London, with a particularly strong presence within commercial office fit-out and refurbishment. Its wider portfolio includes healthcare, retail, education, high-end residential and specialist environments, delivered through both traditional and Design & Build arrangements.

Mechanical opportunities range from approximately £500,000 through to £12.5 million, giving the successful candidate exposure to considerably more substantial and technically varied tenders as their experience develops.

This is not a position where you will simply price small packages in isolation. Working closely with an experienced Head of Estimating and established Pre-Construction team, you will develop your technical and commercial capability while gradually taking greater ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.

For somebody with around three years experience who wants to accelerate their development without being pushed into a senior position before they are ready, this offers an excellent next step within a supportive and experienced Building Services environment.

The Opportunity

Working as part of the Pre-Construction team, you will be involved across the complete tender process and gain increasing responsibility as your confidence and experience develop.

Your role will include:

• Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and associated documentation
• Preparing mechanical estimates, take-offs, pricing schedules and tender submissions
• Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Contributing to commercially competitive Design & Build and traditional tenders
• Attending site surveys and pre- or post-tender meetings where required
• Supporting successful tender handover and the continued development of estimating processes

You will work closely with estimating, design, commercial and project-delivery colleagues, providing useful exposure to how opportunities develop from tender stage into live projects.

About You

We are looking for somebody who has already gained meaningful Mechanical Building Services estimating experience and is ready for the next stage of their development.

You should have:

• Around three years relevant estimating experience within a Mechanical, HVAC or M&E Building Services contractor
• A good practical understanding of HVAC, air conditioning, heating, cooling, plumbing and public health systems
• Experience reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Confidence obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Strong numerical, analytical and Excel skills with excellent attention to detail
• The organisation and communication skills required to manage several tenders and deadlines simultaneously

Experience within commercial fit-out, refurbishment or Design & Build projects would be particularly useful, although candidates from other relevant Mechanical Building Services environments will also be considered.

The position is ideally suited to an estimator who has moved beyond trainee level but still wants access to experienced support, larger tenders and a genuine opportunity to continue developing technically and commercially.
