Quantity Surveyor

Working with the Project Quantity Surveyor, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for supporting the QS in all quantity surveying services. The Assistant QS will assist in the financial management and control of every aspect of the project to maximise commercial results. Excellent opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications/Work Experience

Required Skills and Attributes

Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent professional qualification

Proven experience of construction

Knowledge of planning and scheduling software

(training can be given if required)

Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts

Knowledge of building and construction techniques

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Excellent communication skills, written and oral

Accuracy and attention to detail

A methodical approach to work

Commercial awareness

Teamworking and relationship-building skills

Analytical thinking skills

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Support the senior commercial team:

• Measure, price, negotiate and agree costs for variations to project scope
• Produce and maintain up to date procurement schedules
• Receive and analyse quotations, liaising with Contracts Managers and site agents regarding price, proven history, availability etc.
• Compile sub-contract orders for approval
• Produce and process formal sub-contract documents and certify interim/final payments and final subcontract account
• Attend and contribute to fortnightly Project Review Meetings
• Assist in the measurement/remeasurement of work sections
• Measurement and recording of works completed on site for valuation purposes
