Build Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Plasterer to join an established reactive maintenance team, carrying out plastering repairs and maintenance across social housing and council properties throughout North West London.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled Plasterer looking for long-term job security, a permanent contract, company van, fuel card and plenty of overtime and call-out opportunities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing a wide range of plastering and making-good works within occupied properties, working directly in tenants' homes and delivering a high standard of workmanship and customer service.

Working Area

The role will cover North West London, working across a local patch of social housing and council properties.

The Role Plasterer

You will be responsible for carrying out responsive plastering repairs and day-to-day maintenance within occupied social housing and council properties.

The role will involve assessing repair requirements, preparing surfaces and completing plastering works efficiently, with a focus on quality workmanship and first-time fixes.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Carrying out all aspects of plastering repairs and maintenance
• Patching and repairing damaged plaster
• Skimming walls and ceilings
• Preparing surfaces prior to plastering
• Hacking off damaged or defective plaster
• Making good walls and ceilings following repairs
• Repairing cracks, holes and water-damaged areas
• Applying bonding, backing coats and finishing coats
• Plasterboarding and carrying out associated making-good works
• Completing repairs following damp, mould and water damage
• Carrying out minor rendering and external plastering works where required
• Preparing surfaces for decoration
• Completing responsive repairs within occupied properties
• Diagnosing repair requirements and identifying suitable repair solutions
• Carrying out first-time fixes wherever possible
• Completing jobs within required response times
• Working safely and efficiently within residents' homes
• Keeping work areas clean and tidy
• Providing excellent customer service to tenants and residents
• Updating job information and completing PDA records where required
• Working independently while maintaining communication with the wider team

Social Housing Experience

Previous experience working within social housing, housing associations, council properties, local authority maintenance or domestic property repairs would be highly desirable.

You should be comfortable working in occupied homes and understand the importance of:

• Completing repairs correctly first time
• Working safely and efficiently

• Proven experience as a Plasterer
• Strong domestic plastering and repair skills
• Experience working in occupied properties
• Social housing / council / housing association experience preferred
• Good knowledge of reactive maintenance
• Ability to diagnose problems and work independently
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and customer service skills
• A professional and reliable approach
• Full UK Driving Licence essential
• Own tools desirable

Qualifications

NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in Plastering would be advantageous, although candidates with strong relevant practical experience will also be considered.
