Project Manager Construction Consultancy
Location: South East London
Salary: £70,000 £85,000 + Benefits
Hybrid / Flexible Working
This is an opportunity to join a market-leading property and construction consultancy with an excellent reputation in residential development, working on some genuinely substantial housing and regeneration projects across London and the South East.
The business has an established Project Management and Employer's Agent team acting for Housing Associations, Local Authorities and other residential clients across new-build affordable housing, S106 developments, land-led schemes, mixed-tenure development and major regeneration programmes.
The workload is significant and varied.
Projects
Current and recent projects within the team include:
A major £100m+ residential regeneration programme being delivered in phases across a number of residential blocks under a Development Agreement.
A circa £50m mixed-use residential development being delivered through a partnership between a Local Authority and private developer.
A major regeneration scheme with a construction value in excess of £40m, involving the management and monitoring of quality, programme and budget.
A circa £15m development of shared ownership and affordable rented homes.
A range of other residential developments across London and the South East, typically valued between £10m and £30m, including mixed-tenure schemes comprising several hundred homes.
They are now looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the team.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for your own portfolio of residential developments, working across both pre-construction and live projects and seeing schemes through to completion.
The role will include:
Project managing major new-build residential developments.
Programming, planning and managing projects through to completion.
Working with JCT Design & Build contracts and Development Agreements.
Reviewing drawings, specifications and contract information.
Chairing project and progress meetings.
Coordinating clients, contractors, consultants and wider project teams.
Monitoring construction progress, quality, programme, budget and risk.
Undertaking site visits and reporting throughout the construction phase.
Reviewing valuations and project financial information.
Managing risks across pre-construction and live projects.
Pre-construction work and input into bids and new project opportunities.
Providing technical and project advice to clients throughout the development process.
Working closely with established Housing Association, Local Authority and residential development clients.
At the more senior end there will also be opportunities to mentor junior members of the team, provide project support across the wider team and become increasingly involved with clients and business development.
About You
I'm interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers who have worked on residential development projects.
You are likely to have experience of:
Client-side Project Management
New-build residential development
Affordable housing, S106, land-led or regeneration projects
JCT Design & Build contracts
Development Agreements
Pre and post-contract project delivery
Programme and risk management
Managing contractors and consultant teams
Working directly with clients and other key stakeholders
You may currently be working for another multidisciplinary consultancy, specialist residential consultancy or project management practice.
I'm also interested in people currently working as Employer's Agents where the underlying experience is project management led.
The important thing is having the experience and confidence to take responsibility for residential projects and run them properly.
The Opportunity
This is an established and highly regarded consultancy rather than a business trying to build a residential offering from scratch.
There is a strong pipeline of work, experienced people around you and projects ranging from conventional residential developments through to major £100m+ regeneration programmes.
The business offers hybrid and flexible working, with the flexibility to balance office working with home working, client meetings and time on site.
Package
£70,000 £85,000 basic salary + benefits.
There is flexibility depending on experience and potentially scope to appoint at a more senior level for somebody operating above the normal Project Manager level.
