Job Description

Our client is a well-established and growing engineering and construction business, delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical projects.

Due to continued growth and an increasing project workload, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Planner to join their team.



The Role

As a Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring project programmes, ensuring that mechanical and electrical works are effectively planned and coordinated from commencement through to completion.

Working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and the wider delivery team, you will play a key role in ensuring projects remain on programme and that any potential delays or issues are identified and addressed at an early stage.



Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed M&E project programmes.
  • Work closely with project and site teams to establish realistic and achievable programmes.
  • Monitor progress against agreed programmes and identify potential delays.
  • Provide regular programme updates and progress reports.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical activities with the overall construction programme.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders to ensure programme requirements are met.
  • Identify programme risks, constraints and opportunities.
  • Assist with short-term and look-ahead programmes.
  • Support project teams with planning, sequencing and resource requirements.
  • Attend progress and planning meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate programme records and documentation.
  • Assist with recovery programmes where projects fall behind schedule.


About You

The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a planning role within the construction, engineering or building services sector.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in Mechanical and Electrical planning.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical construction activities.
  • Experience working on complex construction or engineering projects.
  • Strong programme management and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with planning software such as Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • A proactive and organised approach to problem solving.
