Our client is seeking a highly capable and experienced Project Manager to support the successful delivery of a major capital infrastructure programme in Barrow-in-Furness This is a key role within a complex and high-value defence environment, offering the opportunity to lead critical project workstreams that contribute to nationally significant programmes. The Role As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects or discrete work packages within a wider programme. You will lead project teams, manage stakeholders, and ensure delivery is achieved in line with agreed scope, schedule, cost, and quality parameters. Operating within a highly regulated and structured environment, you will play a pivotal role in driving project performance, ensuring robust governance, and maintaining alignment with client objectives. This position requires strong leadership capability, commercial awareness, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes. Key Responsibilities Lead the full project lifecycle from initiation, planning, and execution through to close-out and handover Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project programmes, ensuring alignment with overarching programme milestones Take ownership of project budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and reporting of variances Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across design, engineering, commercial, and construction functions Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including client representatives, contractors, and supply chain partners Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, contractual requirements, and health, safety & environmental standards Monitor project performance using KPIs and reporting tools, providing clear and concise updates to senior leadership Support procurement strategies and oversee contractor performance, ensuring delivery against agreed outputs Drive continuous improvement, lessons learned, and the adoption of best practice across the project About You Proven track record as a Project Manager delivering projects within construction, infrastructure, engineering, or defence sectors Experience working within complex, large-scale programmes or highly regulated environments Strong understanding of project management methodologies, controls, and governance processes Demonstrable experience managing project budgets, schedules, risks, and stakeholder engagement Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence and coordinate diverse teams Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage at all levels Commercially aware with a good understanding of contracts and procurement processes Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar Professional accreditation (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is desirable What's on Offer Opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-profile and nationally significant programme.
