Senior Building Services Manager
Salter Grange is recruiting on behalf of our client, a family-owned international construction company known for building excellence through trust, certainty and value for its clients.
Our client is seeking a Senior Building Services Manager to take responsibility for the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) systems across large or multiple projects. This role combines technical expertise with leadership and strategic oversight, ensuring MEP systems are fully integrated, tested and commissioned in line with design, statutory and sustainability requirements - leading and developing teams, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring seamless handover and long-term building performance.
Building Services Manager Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical direction in applying Building Services management systems and procedures, supporting the wider Building Services strategy.
- Oversee technical and commercial aspects of MEP delivery from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, including tendering, procurement and package award.
- Lead the planning, coordination and integration of MEP works into the project programme, including early engagement with utility providers and stakeholders.
- Oversee coordinated drawings, builder's work requirements, and robust tracking of equipment and plant through approval, procurement, delivery, installation and testing.
- Proactively identify and mitigate programme, contractual and commercial risks, and drive compliance with quality systems, inspections and progressive sign-off.
- Oversee the safe management of live energy systems, and the development of inspection, testing, commissioning and handover plans.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, promote the company's values, and strengthen client, consultant and supply chain relationships.
- Oversee preparation of safety files and delivery of soft landings processes.
- Building Services Manager Requirements:
- Experience managing large-scale, complex MEP projects, with strong understanding of the MEP supply chain and market.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
- Technical competence across the full project lifecycle - estimating, pre-construction, installation, commissioning and handover.
- Commercial and contractual awareness in MEP project management (desirable as well as required).
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive, methodical approach to problem-solving.
