Site Manager - HVDC 400kV Substation
Location: North Wales
Contract: 12 month - Contract / Site-Based
About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced Site Manager to support a major 400kV substation project in North Wales.
The Site Manager will take a leading role in coordinating supervisors, site teams and work activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
Previous site management and substation experience is essential, ideally gained within the electricity supply industry or a comparable power, energy, oil & gas or major construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate supervisors, site teams and work activities across assigned work fronts.
- Ensure works are delivered safely on time and to the required quality standards.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical installation activities.
- Monitor progress against project timescales and identify potential delays or deviations.
- Coordinate with other work parties to ensure efficient and safe working across the site.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Lead by example and ensure all site personnel adhere to site rules and safe working practices.
- Support completion of task cards and required project documentation.
- Maintain effective communication with site management, contractors and wider project teams.
- Assist with problem solving and conflict resolution where required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous Site Management / Site Supervision experience within a substation environment.
- Experience working within the electricity supply industry, power generation, oil & gas or major construction.
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements within a substation environment.
- Experience leading and coordinating site teams and multiple work fronts.
- CSCS.
- SMSTS.
- NG SR163/ TP137.
- First Aid.
- CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Manual Handling.
- Working at Height.
- Fire Safety Awareness.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Apprentice trained with City & Guilds / minimum NVQ Level 3 in an appropriate discipline, plus a minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience; or
- Degree qualified with a minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience following graduation, ideally within an Electricity Supply Industry construction environment.
- Experience coordinating mechanical and electrical installation activities within a substation or high-voltage environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
