Site Agent/Site Manager - Highways Maintenance & Improvements Stevenage, Hertfordshire, UK up to £52,000 per annum + company car or £5,000 car allowance Lead the Delivery of Highways Schemes Across Hertfordshire We are recruiting for an experienced Site Agent to support the delivery of highways maintenance and improvement schemes across Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong highways or civil engineering background who enjoys leading site teams and taking ownership of delivery. You will coordinate resources, monitor progress and ensure works are completed safely, on programme and to the required quality and commercial standards. The Role You will lead day-to-day site operations across maintenance and improvement schemes, working closely with operational, engineering and commercial teams. You will provide visible leadership in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality while supporting and developing site teams. Your responsibilities will include: Planning and sequencing works to maximise productivity and minimise disruption. Leading site operations and coordinating labour, equipment and materials. Monitoring progress against programme and resolving delivery issues proactively. Ensuring costs are correctly allocated, value is maximised and waste is minimised. Liaising with supervisors, engineers, managers and commercial teams. Undertaking and responding to safety, quality and environmental audits. Maintaining accurate site records, paperwork and progress reports. Ensuring works meet relevant industry standards and company procedures. Engaging professionally with clients, inspectors and members of the public. Supporting and developing site teams, promoting positive behaviours and high standards. Skills and Experience Required To be considered for this position, you should have: A strong background in highways maintenance or civil engineering. Proven experience delivering schemes on site. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate operational teams. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Senior Engineer / Package Manager Old Oak Common, London, NW10 6DZ £51,000-£56,000 per annum + £5,000 car allowance Lead Specialist Construction Packages at Old Oak Common We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer / Package Manager to join a major infrastructure project at Old Oak Common. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in roofing systems, façades and structural steel packages to take ownership of specialist works, coordinate subcontractors and lead a team of two Package Managers and one Assistant Package Manager. Applicants should be based locally to Old Oak Common or within a practical commuting distance of the site. The Role You will oversee the delivery of allocated construction packages, coordinating design and site activities to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with programme and quality requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and supporting two Package Managers and one Assistant Package Manager. Managing the day-to-day delivery of allocated work packages. Overseeing subcontractor performance, programmes and deliverables. Coordinating roofing, façade and structural steel works, including interfaces with other packages. Working closely with design, commercial and site teams to support delivery. Ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are maintained. Estimator - Highways The Role A leading infrastructure and highways maintenance business is looking for an experienced Target Cost Estimator to join its commercial management team on a major term maintenance highways contract in Milton Keynes. This is a senior specialist role, responsible for preparing robust target cost estimates and managing monthly valuations under NEC3/NEC4 target-cost arrangements, ensuring accuracy, transparency and value for money. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in protecting the business's commercial position while fostering a collaborative, open-book approach with the Client and delivery teams. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed target cost estimates using Schedules of Rates and agreed pricing mechanisms, covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, overheads and risk. Price and submit Early Warnings and Compensation Events, working closely with Quantity Surveyors to protect contractual entitlement. Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment, ensuring 100% of completed work value is captured with full supporting evidence. Record and manage costs within systems such as Causeway CPA, SAP and Confirm, maintaining real-time visibility of actual versus target cost. Monitor variances and escalate risks early, supporting proactive commercial decision-making. Manage and verify subcontractor costs and payments, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project budgets. Work collaboratively with operational teams to clarify scopes and improve estimate accuracy. Communicate openly and professionally with the Client's commercial representatives. Mentor junior commercial team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. About You The ideal candidate will have: Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills. Hands-on experience working with NEC3/NEC4 (Option C) contracts. Advanced Excel skills and strong capability with cost-management systems. Strong experience in a commercial or estimating role within the highways or civil engineering sector. An HNC, HND, or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or equivalent practical experience). Desirable Experience using industry software such as Causeway CPA, SAP, and Confirm.
