Job Description

Offshore Agent

Location: Suffolk

Reporting To: Package Manager

The Role

Looking for an experienced Offshore Agent (or Senior Section Engineer ready to step up) to lead and control critical marine and offshore construction packages on a major infrastructure project.

You will work directly alongside the Package Manager to drive technical execution, manage a dedicated team of Section/Site Engineers and Offshore Client Representatives, control package budgets, and oversee Tier-1 supply chain partners in a high-stakes offshore environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Package Leadership: Take full operational, technical, and commercial control of assigned marine work packages from preparation through to handover.

  • Team & Subcontractor Management: Direct, coach, and assess competencies for Section Engineers, Site Engineers, and subcontractors, ensuring clear cascading of key project goals.

  • HSE & Quality Control: Drive Zero Harm standards, review and approve RAMS, lead incident investigations, conduct vessel audits, and take complete ownership of Handover Completion Files (ITPs, NCRs).

  • Commercial & Budget Ownership: Monitor section budgets, track weekly costs, identify works information changes to support commercial recovery, and assist with Applications for Payment (AfP).

  • Planning & Productivity: Produce fully resourced stage programmes, convert project schedules into 3-week look-aheads, and track visual KPIs to maintain shift productivity.

  • Interface Management: Coordinate daily between internal engineering, commercial, and safety teams, serving as a primary point of contact for external client representatives and stakeholders.

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience: Proven track record in an Agent, Sub-Agent, or Senior Section Engineer role within offshore, marine, or coastal infrastructure projects.

  • Certifications: Valid CSCS card, SSSTS or SMSTS qualification, STCW-95 (or recognised equivalent marine safety certification), and a full UK driving license.

  • Commercial & Planning Skills: Strong knowledge of contract change-management, detailed site record-keeping, and experience building/tracking resourced programmes.

  • Offshore Working: High level of self-motivation and adaptability to work unsociable hours driven by tide and marine operations.

Desirable

  • Education & Accreditation: Degree in Civil/Marine Engineering or equivalent; holding (or working toward) ICE, IHT, or equivalent professional membership.

  • Technical Expertise: Experience evaluating supplier technical solutions, deep-water/marine installations, and inputting into design constructability.
