Site Manager - School Construction Project

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to join our team on a school construction project.
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable Site Manager with experience working in live education environments, who can manage the day-to-day delivery of the project while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality and professionalism.
The Role
The Site Manager will take overall responsibility for the daily management of the construction site, coordinating subcontractors, trades and deliveries while ensuring the works remain on programme and are delivered to the required specification.
As the project is within a school environment, the successful candidate must be comfortable working around staff, pupils and members of the public and understand the additional safety, safeguarding and logistical requirements this brings.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day running of the construction site.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades and site operatives.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with RAMS and company procedures.
- Maintain strict site security and safe segregation between construction activities and school operations.
- Coordinate deliveries, access, plant, materials and labour.
- Monitor progress against the construction programme.
- Liaise closely with the Project Manager, client, school representatives, consultants and subcontractors.
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and regular safety inspections.
- Maintain accurate daily records and site documentation.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Identify and resolve issues quickly to minimise disruption to the school.
- Manage snagging and assist with project completion and handover.
- Ensure the site is kept clean, organised and safe at all times.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry.
- Previous experience working on school, education or other live-site projects is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of construction health and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multiple trades.
- The ability to work professionally and sensitively within an occupied school environment.
- A proactive approach to problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- The ability to manage programme, quality and safety under pressure.
Qualifications
- SMSTS - essential.
- CSCS
- First Aid at Work
- Relevant construction qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Experience with safeguarding and working within live education environments is advantageous.
