Carpenter - Earls Colne, Essex - Full Time - temporary to permanent

We are currently recruiting for a Shuttering Carpenter to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Earls Colne, Essex. This is a full time opportunity offering long-term stability, a competitive hourly rate, bonus opportunities, and the chance to develop your skills within a specialist precast manufacturing environment. This role would suit an experienced Carpenter with a construction or manufacturing background who is confident measuring and cutting accurately and enjoys working on bespoke projects.

About the role:

Building and assembling wooden and steel moulds ready for reinforcement cages to be installed and concrete poured. You will work from CAD drawings to manufacture moulds accurately, with materials required to be cut to tight tolerances of no more than 2mm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building and assembling wooden shuttering and steel moulds
  • Measuring and cutting materials to tight tolerances
  • Reading and working from CAD drawings
  • Preparing moulds ready for reinforcement cages and concrete pouring
  • Double-checking completed work before casting to prevent errors
  • Maintaining equipment and completing shopfloor equipment checks
  • Monitoring material levels and liaising with team leaders when stock is required

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 2 years' experience within carpentry
  • Strong measuring and cutting skills
  • Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances
  • Comfortable reading technical/CAD drawings
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and willing to learn new methods and technologies

Desirable (for top salary bracket):

  • Previous experience within the precast concrete industry
  • Experience working with shuttering or moulds
  • Broader construction or manufacturing experience
