Job Description

Passive Fire Protection Surveyor

300/day

Guernsey (accommodation and travel provided)

We are seeking an experienced Passive Fire Surveyor to carry out detailed inspections of fire compartmentation within occupied residential properties across Guernsey. This is a freelance opportunity suited to a self-motivated professional with strong technical knowledge of passive fire protection systems and experience working in live residential environments.

  • Hours of work - 10h/day Mon to Fri
  • Saturday - 10h/day ( 400)

The successful candidate will undertake comprehensive surveys and inspections relating to:

  • Fire compartmentation
  • Fire doors
  • General fire stopping
  • Penetration sealing and service risers
  • Compliance with relevant fire safety legislation and guidance
  • Identification and recording of defects and remedial requirements

The work will primarily involve occupied dwellings, requiring a professional and customer-focused approach when interacting with residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intrusive and non-intrusive passive fire inspections
  • Assess integrity of compartment walls, floors, ceilings, and service penetrations
  • Inspect fire doors in accordance with current standards and best practice
  • Record findings accurately using digital reporting systems/tablets
  • Produce clear survey reports, photographs, and defect schedules
  • Liaise with site teams, residents, and contract managers as required
  • Ensure all inspections are carried out safely and in line with current regulations

Requirements

  • Proven experience in passive fire surveying or fire stopping inspections
  • Strong understanding of compartmentation principles and fire door compliance
  • Knowledge of relevant UK fire safety regulations and guidance documents
  • Experience working within occupied residential properties
  • Ability to identify and document passive fire defects accurately
  • Good IT and reporting skills
  • CSCS card preferred
  • Relevant passive fire qualifications/certifications advantageous
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

You will be reliable, technically competent, and comfortable working autonomously in occupied environments. Previous experience delivering compartmentation surveys for housing providers, local authorities, or contractors would be highly beneficial.
