Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is a well established engineering business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality bespoke engineering solutions across a range of industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who enjoys combining hands-on design work with leadership responsibilities, helping to deliver innovative projects from concept through to manufacture.

• Design and develop bespoke mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using 3D CAD software.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
• Lead and manage design projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure project requirements are met.
• Review designs for manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Drive continuous improvement within design processes and engineering standards.
• Support prototype development, testing, and product validation where required.

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven experience in mechanical design engineering within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
• Experience managing projects and/or leading engineering teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and engineering standards.
• A relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent).
