M&E Manager 65m Landmark Commercial Retrofit & Extension Central London

Our client, a leading Main Contractor, has retained us to recruit an experienced M&E Manager for one of Central London's most technically challenging and prestigious commercial refurbishment projects.

This flagship 65m retrofit and extension will transform a historic office building into over 100,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation, combining the restoration of the existing structure with innovative engineering and sustainable construction methods.

The project includes:

• Major cut & carve refurbishment works
• Infilling of an existing central atrium
• Construction of two additional floors
• A striking rooftop extension and terrace incorporating a state-of-the-art cross-laminated timber (CLT) structure
• Extensive structural alterations
• High-specification CAT A commercial fit-out
• Complex new MEP installations integrated within an existing building
• Delivery to ambitious sustainability targets, including BREEAM Excellent and EPC A

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced M&E Manager to play a key role in delivering a technically demanding project where building services are central to the successful integration of new and existing elements.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Director, the successful candidate will take ownership of all mechanical and electrical packages from pre-construction coordination through installation, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the delivery of all MEP subcontract packages
• Reviewing technical designs and ensuring buildability
• Coordinating MEP services with structural, architectural and fa ade works
• Driving programme, procurement and installation activities
• Managing quality assurance, commissioning and testing
• Ensuring health & safety compliance across all MEP activities
• Chairing coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors and the client team
• Identifying and resolving design and construction clashes
• Overseeing commissioning, witness testing and final handover documentation
• Ensuring all services are delivered to programme and the highest quality standards

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience as an M&E Manager working for a Main Contractor
• Proven experience delivering complex commercial refurbishment, cut & carve or major fit-out projects
• Strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical building services
• Experience coordinating MEP installations within existing buildings
• Excellent knowledge of commissioning, testing and handover processes
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and stakeholders
• SMSTS, CSCS and relevant health & safety qualifications
• Strong communication, planning and leadership skills
