Intermediate Sustainability Consultant (Building Physics)

Location: Oxford Hybrid Working (3 Days Office / 2 Days Home)Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience

Day-to-Day

Your daily activities will include:

  • Developing energy models and conducting performance simulations.
  • Preparing technical reports and client deliverables.
  • Assisting with carbon reduction and sustainability strategies.
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Participating in project meetings and design reviews.
  • Learning from experienced consultants and enhancing your technical expertise.
Responsibilities

As a Sustainability & Energy Modeller, you will play a key role in delivering sustainability and building performance services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting energy modelling and building performance analysis using IES VE.
  • Preparing Part L compliance assessments and supporting energy strategies.
  • Producing technical reports and sustainability assessments.
  • Assisting with feasibility studies and building performance evaluations.
  • Supporting TM54, TM59, and overheating assessments.
  • Contributing to carbon analysis and low-carbon design strategies.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to integrate sustainability into building designs.
  • Supporting project delivery from concept to completion.
  • Attending client and design team meetings alongside senior team members.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Experience in a sustainability consultancy, building services consultancy, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in IES VE and building performance modelling.
  • A solid understanding of UK Building Regulations, particularly Part L.
  • Familiarity with TM54, TM59, SAP, SBEM, or similar assessment methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A genuine interest in sustainable design and low-carbon buildings.

Experience Requirements:

  • Typically 2-4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven experience supporting energy modelling and sustainability projects.
  • Familiarity with building performance analysis software and sustainability assessments.
