The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a valued client for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a £6 million construction project in Chesterton, Cambridge.
This immediate-start opportunity will see you take responsibility for overseeing all health and safety aspects of a live construction site, ensuring compliance, promoting best practice, and maintaining the highest standards of safety throughout the project lifecycle.
The project comprises a standard commercial interior fit-out alongside a range of structural works, including piling operations, steel-framed structures, and internal structural alterations.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage all site health and safety activities.
- Ensure compliance with current health, safety, and environmental legislation and company procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Review and monitor RAMS and site documentation.
- Provide guidance and support to site management, subcontractors, and operatives.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture across the project.
- Liaise with clients, site teams, and stakeholders to ensure safety standards are maintained at all times.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- NEBOSH Certificate (essential).
- Proven experience working as a Health & Safety Manager within the construction sector.
- Experience overseeing both fit-out and structural construction works.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide practical safety solutions on a busy construction site.
- Available to start immediately.
