Contract Manager (Graduate / Junior Considered)

Overview

An established contractor in the highways and road marking sector is looking to bring in a Contract Manager to support work across the North East.

This is a really good opportunity for either someone with experience or a civil engineering graduate who wants to get into a hands-on role early. The business is big on attitude. They want someone organised, switched on, and confident speaking to people. If the personality is right, they will back someone and develop them.

The Role

This is a practical role where you are involved in the day-to-day running of projects.

You will be working closely with site teams, helping plan work, and making sure jobs are set up properly before going live.

Typical responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and putting together job packs for site teams
• Planning and scheduling road works across multiple jobs
• Coordinating operatives and making sure work is ready to go each day
• Being involved in early morning planning
• Supporting the delivery of live contracts
• Keeping track of progress and making sure jobs run to plan
• Liaising with teams on site and internally
• Getting involved in how work is phased and organised

There is an element of juggling multiple jobs at once so being organised is key.

What They Are Looking For

You do not need to be the finished article for this. They are open minded as long as the person fits.

What would help:

• Civil Engineering degree or similar
• Interest in highways, construction or infrastructure
• Some exposure to site work or project environments

More importantly, they are looking for:

• Someone who communicates well and is confident speaking to people
• Someone organised who can manage their own workload
• Someone who is proactive and gets stuck in
• A good attitude and willingness to learn
• Someone who can handle a fast-paced environment
