M&E Site Manager - National Grid / HV Substations

Rate: 650 per day (Negotiable)
We are currently seeking an experienced M&E Site Manager to support major Electricity Transmission projects within the National Grid infrastructure environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly competent professional with extensive substation and high-voltage transmission experience to join a fast-paced delivery team working across critical energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee Mechanical & Electrical site activities on HV transmission and substation projects.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and programme requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and operational teams on site.
- Maintain compliance with National Grid procedures, HSE legislation, and CDM regulations.
- Monitor quality, progress, and performance across all construction activities.
- Support project reporting, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
- Ensure safe systems of work are implemented and maintained at all times.
Essential Requirements
- National Grid Competent Person - NSI 6 & 8 Full.
- Previous experience working within the Electricity Transmission industry.
- Competent to work in substations from 66kV to 400kV.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies within HV transmission projects.
- NEC contract knowledge.
- Excellent understanding of HSE legislation and site safety requirements.
- First Aid at Work (3 Day).
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- IT literate with strong reporting and communication skills.
- Previous or current National Grid TP137 authorisation, including Impressed Voltage Awareness.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- CITB SMSTS / NEBOSH / IOSH certification.
- Temporary Works Supervisor qualification.
- HSG47 or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of National Grid Transmission procedures.
Desirable Requirements
- National Grid Person certification.
- Manual Handling certification.
