Commercial Manager

UK Hybrid (Midlands HQ with weekly attendance required)

We are working in partnership with a highly respected and rapidly growing organisation within the heavy lifting and engineered transport sector to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager. This is a key strategic hire, offering the opportunity to take full ownership of developing and expanding the heavy cranes division across the UK and Ireland.

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation that you will spend at least one day per week in the Midlands. During this time, you will work closely with the wider Heavy Crane and commercial teams and meet with the Head of Commercial to review pipeline, align on strategy, and discuss upcoming opportunities.

This position offers genuine autonomy. You will have the freedom to shape your own approach to business development, identify target markets, and drive growth in a way that delivers results. The business is investing heavily in both its people and fleet, supported by a clear five-year growth strategy and ambitions for international expansion.

The Role

As Commercial Manager, you will lead the growth of the heavy cranes offering, with a particular focus on sectors such as civils, infrastructure, defence, ports, and shipyards. You will be responsible for the full commercial lifecycle, from opportunity identification through to tendering, negotiation, and project handover.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing a targeted business development strategy within the heavy cranes market
  • Identifying, securing, and growing new business opportunities across key sectors
  • Managing and developing long term client relationships
  • Maintaining a strong and active pipeline, with regular reviews alongside the Head of Commercial
  • Leading tender submissions, commercial proposals, and contract negotiations
  • Assessing and mitigating commercial and contractual risk
  • Representing the business at industry events, exhibitions, and client meetings
  • Supporting operational teams post award, including variations and commercial matters
  • Driving continuous improvement through project close out and feedback

About You

We are keen to speak with commercially driven individuals who bring both industry knowledge and the determination to make a tangible impact. This role requires tenacity, drive, and a proactive approach to winning and growing business.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience within the heavy cranes or heavy lifting sector
  • Strong understanding of key markets such as civils, infrastructure, defence, ports, or shipyards
  • A track record of developing new business and delivering commercial growth.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to operate autonomously and take full ownership of your remit.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including tendering and contract management.
  • A resilient, driven mindset with a results focused approach
  • A full UK driving licence.

Package

  • High basic salary, dependent on experience Circa £60k
  • Bonus or commission structure to be agreed with the successful candidate.
  • Company car or car allowance
  • Contributory pension
  • Bupa Healthcare Family included.
  • 33 days Annual leave

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that is growing year on year, with clear strategic direction and significant investment behind it. You will play a vital role in shaping the future of the heavy cranes division, with the autonomy and support to make a genuine impact.

If you are an ambitious Commercial Manager looking for a role where you can drive growth and influence strategy, we would be very interested in speaking with you.
